Transportation

AIR

Major Airport:
The Albany International Airport is approximately 20 miles south and less than a 30 minute drive from the Saratoga County. The Albany Airport provides direct air service to major US cities and connections to international cities. This airport provides quick access to the markets throughout the US and Canada.

Secondary Airport:
The Saratoga County Airport is a local airport with one 4,700 ft. runway and one 4,000 ft. runway. This nearby airport is ideal to accommodate executive/business aircraft. The airport is located on Geyser Road in the Town of Milton.

From New York City:
John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) , located in New York City, New York,primarily handles international flights. LaGuardia Airport (LGA) located in New York City,New York, primarily handles domestic US flights. Newark International Airport (EWR), located in Newark, New Jersey, handles both domestic and international flights.

From Montreal:
Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, located outside of Montreal, is an international airport that serves the Greater Montreal region and the northern Vermont and New York regions.

From Boston:
Boston Logan International Airport, located in Boston, Massachusetts, is currently served by 56 air carriers, 45 of which are scheduled airlines including 16 foreign flag carriers. This airport provides domestic air service to 33 destinations.

AIR CARGO

In addition to passenger air travel, the Albany County Airport Authority operates a full-service Air Cargo Terminal. This terminal serves FedEx (Albany hub), UPS (Albany hub) and Mobile Air.

RAIL

Passenger
Amtrak Railways operates a train station in Saratoga Springs, which offers rail service on a daily basis. The Saratoga Springs train station. From the Albany-Rensselaer Station,  Amtrak offers a 2 hours and 15 minute rail service to New York City.


Freight
Saratoga County is conveniently served by two rail lines, CP Rail and Pan Am Railways.
Intermodal Facility at Halfmoon/Mechanicville – A new intermodal facility operated by Norfolk Southern and Pan Am Railways, scheduled to open in 2010.

HIGHWAYS

Interstate 87 (New York’s North/South Corridor) runs directly through the center of Saratoga County. The county is also just 20 miles north of Interstate 90 (New York’s East/West Corridor). road infrastructure is uniquely suited to a "just-in-time" supply model.

WATERWAYS

The Port of Albany
The Port of Albany is located on the Hudson River only 30 miles from central Saratoga County. The Port has two wharves (4,200 ft. and 1,200 ft.) and an outside storage yard with rail distribution. The Port is open year round and can accommodate ships up to 750 feet in length. The channel depth and width is 32 ft. and 400 ft. respectively. A total of 750,000 tons is moved through this channel annually.

The Hudson River is the eastern and northern border of Saratoga County. Waterways north of the Port of Albany are open approximately nine months out of the year via the Champlain Canal. These waterways are closed only during winter months.
